Breastfeeding and nipple piercing?
As a starting point a nipple piercing shouldn't disturb breatfeeding. The piercing are not able to close any of the mammary glands in the nipple, since the piercing is a very small part of the nipple. That being said, if you haven't got the anatomy to get this piercing or if a bad inflamation happens, it could create more scar tissue and thereby close more mammary glands.
It doesn't occur often that the piercing prevents breastfeeding when done by a professionel body piercer.
During breastfeeding with a breast piercing. we strongly recommend that you take the jewelery out while your baby is being breastfed, so that you do not damage the baby's gums or the child gets the piercing jewelery wrong in the throat if the jewelery should fall out.
