Bathing
- Take a warm shower. Wash body and hair first without getting soap on your piercing.
- Apply a small amount of neutral soap on the piercing and the area around the piercing.
- Let the soap soak for about a minute, softening whatever fluids might be on the jewelry and the pierced area.
- Carefully clean the jewelry with your fingers.
- Rinse the area while you slowly move the jewelry back and forth through the piercing.
- Dry the piercing with gauze.
Note! Be cautious with the soap, because soap can cause problems with fungus. We recommend that you limit the use of soap to 1 - 2 times a week and use saline solution every morning and evening.
What's to be expected
- In the beginning it can bleed a bit, so be prepared. Local swelling, tenderness and small bruises can also occur.
- During healingsprocess some discoloration can happen, itching, transparant/yellowish flouid can accumulate some scabs around the jewelry. The tissue can feel a bit tight around the piercing when healing.
- When the piercing is healed it should be possible to move the jewelry freely through the pierced skin. It should not be nessesary to pull of force the movement of the jewelry.
- If cleaning isn't a part of your daily routine, the piercing can start to smell due to the accumulation of flouids your body excrete.
- The piercing can sometimes feel healed before the healingsprocess is ended. This is caused because the tissue is healing from the outside and in, which means that it can look and feel completely healed, but still be very fragile inside. Be patient and keep on rinsing your piercing through the healingproces.
- Healed piercings can shrink or close itself in a few minutes even years after it is done. This variates from people to person. If you are content with your piercing, let the jewelry stay in and don't take the jewelry out over longer peiods of time.
