Threading?
This blog is focusing on threading for the most common types of piercing jewelry.
The three most common kinds of threading is Externally Threaded, Internally Threaded and Threadless.
Externally Threaded VS Internally Threaded
It is quite normal that Internally Threaded are more expensive than Externally Threaded because the production of it is far more complicated.
Internally Threaded jewelry’s thread is integrated in the jewelry and this placement makes no influence on the jewelry’s structure. To make a jewelry like that, the manufacturers are using advanced production techniques which makes the jewelry more expensive.
The thread in Externally Threaded is no less than traumatic to insert into a fresh piercing because of its threading. Internally Threading are designed to avoid trauma to the tissue, to be less painful, make the piercing heal faster and without any complications. Internally Threaded jewelry’s is more smooth compared to Externally Threaded.
Externally threaded jewelry has a threaded post on the barbell shaft, which is then inserted into a threaded hole in the top and/or end. This threading has small spaces to contain blood residues and pathogens which can be really dangerous when it gets into contact with a fresh piercing.
Internally Threaded is more durable than Externally Threaded. It is quite common that the Externally Threading can bend and get out of shape.
REBELLIC recommends to use Internally Threaded and Threadless, especially in newly made piercings and piercings which is overall quite new.
